Culture and History
Saint-Saturnin du Bourg was originally the chapel of a small Benedictine priory dependent on the Abbey of Saint Géraud d'Aurillac. Today, only the chancel and transept remain of the church; the nave was presumably destroyed during the Wars of Religion. The chancel and crossing contain 26 carved capitals. Their designs depict interlacing patterns, palmettes, angels, birds and quadrupeds.
The Château de la Rauze also reflects the area's historical character. It consists of two wings arranged in an L shape, flanked by three square towers. The main construction phases date from the 17th and 18th centuries. The château's façades and roofs, excluding the outbuildings, were listed as a historic monument by an order dated 14 November 1979.
Trails and Landscape
The CheMain Faisant connects Le Bourg with Anglars. Works by local artists are displayed along the route, which also provides information about local agriculture. Another route through the landscape is the Promenade en Forêt: this family-friendly walk is located in the Bois Bordet, offers panoramic views and explores the landscape of the Limargue.
The municipality includes a 65-hectare communal forest managed by the Office National des Forêts. It consists mainly of Corsican Laricio pine, accounting for 34 percent, oak at 23 percent, Douglas fir at 12 percent and sycamore maple at 9 percent.
Local Life
A food and handicraft market takes place every Sunday morning on the church square in Le Bourg. The Sunday market focuses on local and seasonal produce as well as short supply chains.
Mobility
A demand-responsive transport service is available for medical appointments, leisure activities, shopping and administrative errands. It picks up passengers at home. In addition, a daily transport service runs to Figeac four times a day from Monday to Friday and stops in the village of Le Bourg.
