Henri Martin spent the last 40 years of his life in Labastide-du-Vert in the Lot.
Culture
At the entrance to Labastide-du-Vert is the “vieux lavoir”, with a basin fed by the “source des Fées”. The “vieux lavoir” was donated by the painter Henri Martin. Opposite the Café-Tabac is the restored “Travail”, a former workplace of the farrier, where horses and oxen working in the fields were shod.
In Marquayrol, Henri Martin’s gardens also include the painter’s studio, as well as basins, pergolas and small garden pavilions. The gardens invite visitors to take guided tours and walks organised by ARJEHM.

Landscape
Labastide-du-Vert has numerous springs, often developed with stone vaults; some provide water all year round. Karst plateaus, characteristic of the region, lie on both sides of the valley. The Travers de Guilhem and other rocky slopes of the Devèzes and the Travers can be discovered in the municipality.
Getting Around
The “Labastide-du-Vert au pays d’Henri Martin” hiking route is 5 km long and takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. It leads to the Mouline, a former grain mill, and passes by the maison du sabotier, where Henri Martin liked to set up his easel.
The liO bus stop “LABASTIDE-DU-VERT - Bourg” is 560 metres from the Henri Martin gardens in Marquayrol.
