Grèzes: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The circular trail Le Sentier des Causses starts in Grèzes. It is 9.2 kilometres long and an easy hiking trail with a walking time of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Nature and hiking

The Causse is covered by cracked limestone, which retains water poorly. This intensifies the effects of summer drought and favours vegetation adapted to the aridity of the Causse.

Le Sentier des Causses runs along the slopes of Mont Ligoussou, which separates the Causse from the Célé Valley. Along the trail, dry grasslands with low grass and small shrubs characterise the landscapes typical of the Causses. A distinctive flora and fauna also thrive there, including numerous species that are rare in France and Europe.

Culture and history

The village church of Grèzes stands on a Gallo-Roman site that later became a cemetery in the Middle Ages.

The Château de Grèzes is a 17th-century building. After belonging to most of the region’s noble families, it successively served as a gendarmerie, school, community hall, holiday camp and town hall; it was subsequently converted into a hotel-restaurant with an art exhibition venue.

In May 2026, the gates of the Château de Grèzes, previously called Le Grézalide, had been closed for about a year.
