Bagnac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Bagnac-sur-Célé is a starting point for the Célé Valley. The Vallée du Célé nature centre extends from Bagnac-sur-Célé to the confluence with the Lot.

Nature

The Le Célé à Bagnac area is a Type 1 ZNIEFF natural area and includes the municipality of Bagnac-sur-Célé. It covers 169.83 hectares and includes alluvial forests with ash and alder trees. The area is home to two species of importance for the ZNIEFF, listed in Annex II of the Habitats Directive; one of them is a colony of western barbastelle bats.

Culture and History

The Pont sur le Célé bridge has been listed as a historic monument since 11 January 1951 and has three pointed-arch openings. The medieval bridge is exclusively for pedestrians.

The parish church of Saint-Pierre has a neoclassical western façade with a bell tower in the central section. In its present structure, it preserves substantial parts from the 15th century; construction phases presumably followed in the 16th and 19th centuries.

The Bouluech watermill is regularly open to the public. Its restored mill room is equipped with information panels explaining how mills in the region operate. The Moulin des Conturies has working millstones and a small museum.

Activities

The recreational area on the Célé in Bagnac-sur-Célé has a barbecue area, an accessible fishing platform and a canoe launch site. Access to the no-kill section on the Célé is free of charge for holders of a departmental fishing permit and the free permit for the no-kill section. The section extends for more than 1.2 kilometres.

The Circuit des Gâches is a 10.9-kilometre, moderately difficult circular hiking trail starting in Bagnac-sur-Célé. It runs through woodland and small villages, offers beautiful viewpoints and is suitable for horse riders and mountain bikes.

In the immediate vicinity of Bagnac-sur-Célé, on the Linac side, there are two no-kill sections for trout fishing. The Ferme de Caffoulens in Bagnac-sur-Célé offers accommodation for horses and is listed as a starting point for horse-riding tours and for taking in horses.

Local

A weekly market is held in Bagnac-sur-Célé on Wednesdays at Place du Foirail. The market has stalls selling cured meats, cheese, meat, poultry, fish, baked goods, fruit and vegetables, as well as prepared foods.
