Bonnefont: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The circular hiking trail Chemin des 3 croix Bonnefont starts at the church in Bonnefont. Along its route, it crosses the Baïse via a stone bridge, crosses a stream and runs along the edge of a forest. The three crosses along the trail form a viewpoint overlooking the Bonnefont plain.

Culture and History

The church in Bonnefont stands next to the former site of a castle, referred to as “le château”. Its appearance dates from the 19th century; it may possibly originate from the 16th century. It replaced an older church. The Château de Bonnefont has been documented since the mid-14th century.

The hamlet of Lahitte also has its own ecclesiastical heritage. Its church dates from the 19th century and was already shown on the Cassini map. The Church of Notre-Dame de la Nativité in the hamlet of Lahitte was built between 1863 and 1867. The families in Lahitte financed the purchase of its stained-glass windows and altar.

Inside the Church of Notre-Dame de la Nativité there is a carved altar and paintings of the Stations of the Cross. The stained-glass windows include one depicting Notre Dame de Garaison.

Saint Félix de Gérone is the patron saint of Bonnefont; his local feast day is 1 August. The local feast day of Notre-Dame de la Nativité in the hamlet of Lahitte falls on 8 September.

Hiking and Landscape

There is also the Chemin de Bonahont, a moderately difficult hike covering 12.3 kilometres with an approximate duration of 4.5 hours. The trail leads into the Bonnefont forest, which consists of oak trees, chestnut trees and conifer plantations.
