Labastide-Beauvoir: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Culture and History
The façades and roofs of the Château de Labastide-Beauvoir and its outbuildings, as well as the decorated library on the ground floor of the north wing, were listed as a historic monument by decree of 27 June 1983. At the Château de Labastide-Beauvoir, the clock tower and the menagerie tower, as well as a dovecote and various outbuildings, were built between 1765 and 1769. The Château de Labastide-Beauvoir may originally date back to the time of Saint Louis.
The Church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption houses the altarpiece of Sainte Philomène in the northern side aisle of the nave. The altarpiece is an oil painting on a canvas consisting of two parts. The painting of Sainte Philomène shows the saint standing upright amid clouds with the martyr's palm; arrows and a ship's anchor are depicted at her feet.
The Church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption in Labastide-Beauvoir was rebuilt from 1853 to 1884. Its stained-glass windows depict episodes from the life of the Virgin Mary, including the Annunciation, the Nativity of Christ and the Assumption of Mary. The windows were made by Louis Victor Gesta in the second half of the 19th century.
