Terraube is situated on the summit of a hill and overlooks the surrounding slopes. The Castelnau of Terraube is said to have been founded around 1270 by the de Galard family near a motte belonging to them.

History
The stone village fortifications of Terraube were approved in 1308 with three gate towers, battlements and cross-shaped loopholes. A gate tower from Terraube’s former fortifications has been preserved on the southern side of the village.
The Château de Terraube was built around 1272 for the de Galard family. It was extended in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries and is classified as a historic monument.
Religious Buildings
The Couvent de Trinitaires was founded in Terraube on 12 March 1482 by Archieu de Galard. The surviving buildings of the Couvent de Trinitaires use the village wall as their outer northern and eastern walls.
The organ in the Église Notre-Dame de Terraube was built by Alain Leclère in 1983 and is loosely based on the principles of the 17th century.
The church of Terraube stands in the centre of the village. Its spacious 17th-century nave houses an imposing white marble altarpiece and an altar dating from the reign of Louis XVI.
Getting Around
Terraube has a promenade along the fortification walls. The 40.8 km VAE Circuit 5 passes through Lectoure, Larroque-Engalin, La Romieu, Marsolan and Terraube.
