History
From the 12th century onwards, the area came into the possession of the de Montesquiou family and remained in their hands for 800 years, until the French Revolution. Estipouy was once owned by the lords of l’Isle-d’Arbéchan.
A circular motte surrounded by ditches is considered a possible remnant of the vanished Château d'Estipouy. An ancient baptismal font is cited as evidence that the present-day church replaced an older building. The church in Estipouy was structurally altered in the 19th century.
