ELUSA Capitale Antique is a Gallo-Roman visitor network comprising three related sites. The ELUSA Capitale Antique Interpretation Centre is located at the entrance to the archaeological site of the Domus de Cieutat, in Eauze’s former railway station, and uses interactive elements, including a film with a virtual reconstruction. ELUSA Capitale Antique offers guided tours, creative activities for young visitors, family events, national events, summer evening events, and lecture series.

The Musée Archéologique Le Trésor d’Eauze displays a Gallo-Roman treasure discovered in Eauze in 1985, consisting of more than 28,000 coins as well as around 50 pieces of jewellery and precious objects. The museum has permanent exhibitions covering the period from prehistory to the Merovingian era and offers guided tours, storytelling walks, educational workshops, treasure hunts, and introductory archaeology workshops every year.

History

The Église Saint-Luperc in Eauze has been listed as a protected historic monument by decree of 4 January 1945. The Saint-Luperc church, the former cathedral of Eauze, overlooks the medieval town centre and stands on the site of an earlier Romanesque building.

The former Saint-Luperc cathedral was built from 1463 to 1591, destroyed during the Wars of Religion in the 16th century, and rebuilt through the 18th century. It houses a significant collection dating mainly from the 19th century, with paintings and sculptures, as well as a Neo-Gothic organ from 1843.

The historic centre of Eauze preserves elements from the Middle Ages and the early modern period, including half-timbered houses, remnants of the fortifications, a gate of the former priory, and a hospital chapel.

Nature

The starting point of the Voie Verte de l’Armagnac in Eauze is at the roundabout by Leclerc. The Voie Verte de l’Armagnac includes an 8 km section between Cazeneuve and Eauze. It passes through the hills of Armagnac and offers varied landscapes.
