The characteristic chequerboard layout of the Bastide de Mirande dates back to the 13th century. Several prominent buildings can be found among its historic architecture: the former cathedral of Mirande is a monument of southern French Gothic architecture dating from the 15th century and has a porch spanning the street. The Église Notre-Dame has a nave with five bays; its bell tower is supported by flying buttresses that extend over the street. The Église Sainte-Marie de Mirande has been classified as a Monument historique since 1921.
Culture and History
The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Mirande was founded in 1832 through the bequest of Joseph Delort. The Musée des Beaux-Arts et Arts Décoratifs de Mirande houses paintings by Italian, Flemish and French masters from the 15th to the 19th century and has a significant collection of historic decorative faience. The historic townscape also includes the Halle André Daguin, a market hall dating from 1886 with a metal structure in the Baltard style.

Lac de Mirande covers 2.6 hectares and is 1.8 m deep; it is situated along the green, shady banks of the Baïse. Canoe, kayak and paddle excursions are offered on Lac de Mirande and the Baïse, including a trip around Île du Pont. Fishing is possible at Lac de Mirande, and a PR hiking trail begins there.
