Nauviale: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Nauviale lies at the confluence of the Dourdou and Créneau rivers. An architectural feature of the village is the Église Saint-Martin: its portal is now located on the east side, which is why it is considered an inverted church. Travellers who choose Nauviale as their destination want to rent a holiday apartment.
Culture
A depiction of a pilgrim of Saint James can be found on a pillar at the entrance to the northern transept of the Église Saint-Martin. Nauviale also has a 16th-century processional cross, which has been classified as an object under the Monuments historiques since 1906.
At the remains of the Château de Beaucaire, an educational trail with information panels leads through the history and grounds of the site. The panels also cover the local animal and plant life as well as the local geology. The remains of the site include part of the 14th-century fortification wall and the base of the keep.
The Château de Combret displays several construction and design phases spanning five centuries. The earliest structure was a strategically situated building above the Créneau valley, with a tower and a residential building.
Landscape
The “Entre Dourdou et Créneau” hike from Nauviale offers views of the Créneau valley, the Puech de Kaymard and the Vallon de Marcillac. This landscape includes terraced vineyards and buildings made of red sandstone.
Cycling
The Nauviale Trail Route No. 12 starts at the town hall car park. The moderately difficult circular route is 16.9 kilometres long and has 430 metres of elevation gain. It passes through red clay soils, characteristic farmhouses and small hamlets.
Wine
La Coupette uses hand harvesting, natural yeasts and traditional winemaking methods. It produces organic wines from Aveyron in red, white and rosé varieties; tastings are also offered at the estate.
Domaine des Costes Rouges organically farms 7.5 hectares of vineyards and uses exclusively old grape varieties, including Fer Servadou and Prunelard. The Domaine offers guided tours of the wine cellar exclusively for groups. During the tour, the journey of the grapes from the vineyard to the bottle is explained.
