Camarès: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Notre Dame du Camarès stands in Camarès; it was built in 1946 from stone from Lens (Gard) on the former bell tower of the Church of St. Michel. Culture

The historical tour through Camarès begins at the tourist office and leads through narrow, steep lanes into the upper town. The Pont Vieux, a structure dating from the 11th century, is also part of the townscape. The Château de la ville houses a rose garden, while the Noria is a mill complex known as a “moulin-manège”.

The digital tour “Balade numérique à Camarès” leads through the medieval town and tells “La mémoire des deux rives”. It is also a cultural walk lasting approximately 1.5 hours and can be used with the free “Balades Grands Causses” mobile app.

Nature and Activities

The “Le Cœur du Rougier” educational trail can be reached from Camarès by car via the D10 and then the D101; a car park is located behind the Ferme de Sénégas. The interpretive trail is 1 km long and provides information about geology, flora, biodiversity and agropastoralism.

The Poney Club – Centre équestre du Rougier offers pony rides and trail rides, introductory activities, lessons and riding courses all year round, as well as multi-day trail rides.

Water and Leisure

The Base de loisirs Camarès includes a swimming lake or body of water, a shaded area, barbecue facilities, picnic tables and a playground. Supervised swimming is offered at the Base de loisirs Camarès in July and August.

Land and Flavour

The farm experience at Chez Nicolas et Vincent provides insights into farmers’ everyday lives and how they care for their animals. It includes a tasting or meal featuring products from the farm.
