History
The Fontevrist priory of Sainte-Croix-de-Volvestre was founded under Pétronille de Chemillé. The remains of the Fontevrist monastic complex include a wall of the nuns’ church, the prioress’s house, the surrounding walls and the entrance to the chapter house of the monks’ priory.

Nature
The Forêt royale de Sainte-Croix-Volvestre is considered a remnant of the last ice ages. It served as a refuge for Protestant glassmakers.
The Grotte du Tuc d’Audoubert and Grotte des Trois Frères caves, as well as the Cabanères peak, are located near Sainte-Croix-Volvestre. Further afield in the region is the Grotte de Moulis cave.
