L'aiguillon: Holiday apartments and houses

Culture and history

At the Fabrique de Peignes et d'Objets en Corne in L'Aiguillon, sixteen stages are required to manufacture horn combs. When making combs from natural horn, the horn is first heated and flattened; it is then shaped, toothed and polished. The Fabrique de Peignes et d'Objets en Corne is located on the Route de Bélesta in 09300 L'Aiguillon.

The factory Le peigne de l'Ariège in L'Aiguillon was established in 1930 by former comb makers who wanted to form a cooperative. José Da Fonseca holds the title “maître artisan en métier d'art” in the field of tabletterie, as a Brossier-Cornier specialising in horn combs. In 2000, he acquired the Delpech factory in L'Aiguillon, which had formerly been a workers' cooperative called Seguy-Bigou.

The medieval history of L'Aiguillon is linked to that of Bélesta and Fougax. A war memorial stands in one of the village squares of L'Aiguillon. It consists of a vertical stone stele with a white-and-grey patterned marble plaque; the stele was inaugurated on 5 November 1977.

Landscape and trails

The GR7bis is a challenging 14 km circular hike with 817 metres of elevation gain. From Lesparrou, the trail reaches the village of L'Aiguillon after 1.6 km along the Hers. The GR7bis can be hiked every day all year round.

The route “The Country of Textiles – Circuit No. 2” follows the D16 through L'Aiguillon and turns onto the D117 in the village.
