Nature
The ZNIEFF Le Salat et le Lens is a type 1 continental protected area. In the municipality of Betchat, it encompasses a large section of the lower course of the Salat River, as well as the Lens stream, its tributary. The Pyrenean desman, a semi-aquatic mammal endemic to the Pyrenees and the north-western Iberian Peninsula, is found in this protected area. Otters are also found there.

History and Commemoration
The Betchat war memorial was inaugurated on 27 August 1922. It stands near the church on the plateau overlooking the municipality. A gate on the eastern side provides access to the commemorative area of the Betchat war memorial.
Archaeology
The Grotte de Roquecourbère yielded archaeological industries attributed to the Mousterian, Solutrean and Magdalenian. It is one of the few known Solutrean settlement sites in the Central Pyrenees.
Events
The Fête de Betchat took place from 23 to 25 August 2024 and is scheduled for 28 to 30 August 2026. The Feu de Saint-Jean was held in June 2025 and is scheduled for June 2026. The Marché aux plants was held on 4 May 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. beneath the village hall of Betchat.
