Culture and History

The Grotte de Bédeilhac is a protected prehistoric monument; by decree of 18 September 1929, it was placed under monument protection. It preserves prehistoric cave art associated with Cro-Magnon activity around 16,000 years ago and features an underground landscape with huge chambers and spectacular stalactite formations. It can be visited as part of a guided tour lasting approximately one and a half hours.

The Château de Calamès served as a military barracks of the County of Foix in the 13th century. The remains include two sides of the keep and some foundation walls of buildings. The village of Bédeilhac is also home to the Église Saint Martin, a Romanesque church from the 13th century.
