Autrey: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The gardens of Notre-Dame d'Autrey Abbey extend over four hectares and include around fifteen different gardens.

Culture

The abbey is classified as a historic monument. Its Saint-Hubert Chapel is a Renaissance building and was once an important pilgrimage site.

Nature

The gardens bear the “Jardin remarquable” label and include plants from Asia, North America, New Zealand and the Himalayas.

The Gondremer Botanical Garden contains around 3,500 plants from various mountain regions of the world, including approximately 1,500 rhododendrons and azaleas. This garden also has a National Collection of Kalmia, as well as recognised collections of Japanese maples and botanical rhododendrons. Its circuit includes around fifty remarkable trees and shrubs; explanations are provided for each plant.

Season

The abbey gardens can be visited from April to November.

Events

Plantes en fête at the abbey is an exhibition and plant sale. At the event, plant collectors offer gardening advice, while artists and craftspeople present garden ornaments and gardening tools.
