Nature and trails

The Circuit des sources de la Dronne is a 12.1-kilometre circular trail starting in Bussière-Galant. It is also a three-hour hike in the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park, offering numerous panoramic views along the way of the plateaus of Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche and the Monts de Châlus.

The Sentier des Demoiselles passes through a chestnut forest with several viewpoints; more than half of the route is in the shade. The circular trail is 13.9 kilometres long and starts in Bussière-Galant. Along the route is the Courbefy viewpoint at an altitude of 550 metres, offering panoramic views.

Activities

The VELORAIL runs for around two hours along a former railway line on a 12-kilometre round trip. Each VELORAIL vehicle seats four people, two of whom must pedal.

Leisure activities

The Espace Hermeline fishing pond has two fishing platforms for people with reduced mobility. The bathing area includes a partly sandy, partly grassy beach on the shore.

The Espace Hermeline mini-golf course comprises 18 holes depicting various places and architectural monuments in the region, including Château de Montbrun and La Pierre folle. The Labyrinthe des Hermines is accessible to children from the age of three up to a maximum of twelve years.

History and culture

Bussière-Galant traditionally processed chestnut wood into “feuillards”, meaning barrel hoops, which were exported to the Bordeaux region.

The Église Saint-Nicolas was built in 1127 and has been listed as a Monument historique since 22 May 2003. At the Bonnes Fontaines Saint-Eutrope in Courbefy, cloths, handkerchiefs, socks and ribbons are hung from the branches of a wooden cross.

The D901 departmental road runs through Bussière-Galant. The town also has an SNCF railway station.
