The Étang de Murat is a 30-hectare artificial pond located in the municipalities of Saint-Léger-Magnazeix and Lussac-les-Églises. It is designated as a Natura 2000 site and is one of the largest and oldest ponds in the Haute-Vienne département. There is an equipped birdwatching station at this site, where visitors can discover the local birdlife.

The municipal campsite “Les Forges” has 10 pitches and is open from 1 April to 30 September.
Getting around
The Circuit de l’étang de Murat is a signposted hiking trail through the Limousin hedgerow landscape to an ornithological observation site. The municipality’s hiking trails lead to the Chapelle Saint Jean-Baptiste and also to a Gallo-Roman milestone.
Culture and history
The Église Saint-Martial is an 11th-century church in the shape of a Latin cross. The veneration of Saint-Étienne continues with an annual pilgrimage and a patronal festival. In 1356, during the Hundred Years’ War, the Black Prince (Prince de Galles) crossed Lussac-les-Églises with his army. The hamlet of L’Expardelière was the seat of a commandery of the Order of Saint John.
