Culture and History
Yssandon is home to the Église Saint-Hippolyte, a church dating from the 12th century. It has been classified as a Monument historique since 18 June 1963. Its nave has a barrel vault, while the polygonal choir is decorated with arcades and sculpted capitals. The roof is covered with slate from Travassac.
The historic sites also include the ruins of the Tour du Puy d’Yssandon. They have been classified as a Monument historique since 18 June 1963 and are the remains of a medieval signal or watchtower that served military purposes. Since the 15th century, they have been the only surviving remains of the castle.
At the Tour d’Yssandon, picnic tables provide a place to rest while enjoying views of the surrounding hilly landscape and the panoramas around the Puy.

Nature
The Église Saint-Hippolyte overlooks the Brive and Objat basins as well as the Périgord. The orientation tables in Yssandon offer views of the Brive basin, the Monts d’Auvergne and the Périgord.
Things to Do
The Randoland trail in Yssandon is designed for children aged 4 to 12. It uses historical and natural heritage as clues for a treasure hunt-style activity. One version of the walking route in Yssandon is 4.2 kilometres long and takes one hour. The footpath leads up steps to an orientation table and across a grassy promontory with the ruins of the Tour.

A second viewpoint and an information board are located behind the church, at the outer corner of Yssandon cemetery.
The Livret-jeux Le Puy d’Yssandon is a games booklet that enables families to explore the village of Yssandon together with their parents. It is available at the town hall and at the reception desks of the Brive Agglomeration tourist office: all year round in Objat and Brive, and seasonally in Saint-Robert and Ayen.
