Culture

The Chapelle de Glény was classified as a Monument historique under a protection order dated 13 September 1952. It is a single-nave chapel from the 12th century, with a barrel-vaulted nave in front of a semicircular chancel.

The Église Saint-Laurent has a Romanesque chancel from the 12th century and has been documented since 1243. The Château is not open to visitors; today, it houses a Maison d’Accueil Spécialisée and a Foyer Occupationnel. The pilgrimage to Notre Dame du Roc takes place every year on 8 September.

The Espace EDF Odyssélec is located in the site’s former caretaker’s lodge. There, a free, interactive and entertaining tour provides insights into hydropower, the history of the Barrage du Chastang and the power of water as a renewable energy source; the experience is suitable for the whole family. The Barrage du Chastang itself is a hydropower facility built between 1947 and 1952.

Nature

The Barrage du Chastang is located in the Dordogne gorges within the territory of the municipalities of Servières-le-Château and Saint-Martin-la-Méanne. The Chapelle Notre Dame du Roc stands on a rocky outcrop above the Glane stream. The new Chapelle Notre Dame du Roc, built in 1865, has a round design and a slate roof.

Hiking

Les Chapelles is a 7.3-kilometre circular hiking route starting in Servières-le-Château. The circular trail runs through the Glane gorges, connects Servières with Glény and passes the Notre Dame du Roc climbing area. It leads to the Chapelle de Glény and the Chapelle Notre Dame du Roc, then returns to Servières, passing the Église Saint-Laurent along the way.

Water

Guided tours of the Barrage du Chastang and the Espace EDF Odyssélec are available by prior reservation. Outside the Barrage du Chastang site, there are picnic areas and a viewpoint overlooking the dam on the lakeshore.

Supervised swimming is available at Lac de Feyt only in July and August; fishing is permitted. Canoes, stand-up paddleboards and pedal boats are also available for hire there.
