The Belvédère de l’Echamel is home to a 7-hectare area of rocks, primary heathland and wooded slopes. From there, the view extends far across the Luzège Valley.

Culture
The Church of Saint-Martin in Laval-sur-Luzege dates from the 12th or 13th century and, as a Romanesque church dating from the 12th century, features a Baroque altarpiece and wall paintings. The village is home to picturesque houses, some of which date from the 15th century. The local gastronomic heritage includes Safran de l’Herbeil.
The Chapelle Saint-Simon is located in the hamlet of L’Herbeil, and its interior has been renovated. The Motte Castrale de la Bastide is also part of the local history. Its remains and the surrounding vegetation can be explored on a walk to the top of the earth mound. The motte was a strategic location on the border between the territories of the viscounties of Ventadour and Turenne.
Hiking
“Autour de la Sombre” is a moderately difficult 6.2 km circular hiking trail in Laval-sur-Luzege. The Fontaine Saint-Simon is a stop along this hiking trail and stands beside the chapel; many hikers pass by it to refresh themselves.
The “Autour de la Sombre” hiking trail crosses the Sombre, a first-category watercourse where trout, minnows and gudgeon breed.
Nature
The gorge habitats at the Belvédère de l’Echamel are home to peregrine falcons (Falco peregrinus), red kites (Milvus milvus) and rare booted eagles (Hieraaetus pennatus). The Belvédère de l’Echamel can be reached from Laval-sur-Luzege via the “Le Vieux Bourg” hiking route.
Cycling
Circuit 24 – La Dame Blanche passes through the village of Laval-sur-Luzege; at L’Echamel, the route follows a stretch to the Luzège. Circuit 24 – La Dame Blanche is a difficult 18.4 km loop for mountain bikes and e-bikes. The duration for mountain bikes is 2 hours 10 minutes, while the average experience duration is 2 to 3 hours.
