Nature
The circular route “Circuit No. 2 – Chemins des 3 Corrèzes” begins in Saint-Mexant and passes the Sechadour and the village bread oven.
Culture
The church of Saint-Mexant combines several clearly distinguishable architectural elements: the nave is in the Romanesque style and dates from the late 11th or early 12th century. The bell tower is 30 metres high and was built in the 18th century. The historiated capitals of the choir depict, among other things, a mermaid, a woman with reptiles and a lion.
Maison Brugeau is a residential building constructed in the 18th century and houses Saint-Mexant town hall. The building includes a square tower, windows with curved lintels, a cantou fireplace and dormer windows with projecting hipped roofs.
Culture and Gastronomy
L'Atelier des Artistes is a café-theatre at 2 Rue des écoles in Saint-Mexant. Its programme includes comedy, one-man shows and magic. Drinks and a selection of tapas are also available as part of the theatre visit.
GAEC de La Vache Noire, located in Saint-Mexant, keeps Limousin cattle and Cul Noir du Limousin pigs. The farm prefers to sell directly from its own agricultural holding. During the school holidays, it offers farm tours exclusively by prior reservation at 06 14 23 19 58; these introduce visitors to the farm, its working methods and its working philosophy. Where possible, visitors can also see cattle and pigs up close.
Cagouille 19 breeds, produces and processes Gros-Gris snails and sells its products mainly at the farm and at local food markets.
