History

The first recorded mention of Villemolaque dates back to 981 and refers to the area VILLAM MULACAM. Until the Revolution, the history of Villemolaque was closely linked to the “MONASTIR” priory.

Villemolaque preserves picturesque streets that are well worth exploring. The Église Saint-Julien-et-Sainte-Basilisse is a Romanesque church dedicated to Saint Julien and Saint Basselisse. Its single-nave layout and semicircular apse shape the building.

The church’s chevet was raised in the 13th and 14th centuries to improve the fortification of the village.

Hiking

The “Sur Les Pas des Templiers” hiking trail is 10 km long, takes 2 hours and 30 minutes, and begins on Rue de la Marinade near the statue of the “catalan au porró”. In Villemolaque, it passes through Place de la Mairie, by the Cortal with its Cossi, and along Carrer del Mitg. The trail also passes through vineyards bordered by clay soils.

La Ferme Saint Roch is an educational farm offering hands-on experiences, with 300 animals across 3 hectares.

Wine

Domaine Les Conques welcomes visitors to its wine cellar by prior appointment with the winemaker.
