Culture and History

In the hamlet of Prats-Balaguer, the Romanesque church L’église de la Trinité et Sainte Marie was built in the 11th century at an altitude of 1,300 m. It houses a rare, heritage-protected collection of canvases that forms the decoration of Holy Week, known in Catalan as “Monument”. The church was intended to be open to the public on summer weekends and during Heritage Days.

El Castell guarded the passage to the Núria hermitage via the Coll de les Nou Fonts. The original tower of El Castell was part of the chain of signal towers in Roussillon and Cerdagne.
