Culture and History
The present-day Église Saint-Étienne was consecrated in 1767 after the former Romanesque church was demolished in 1758 because it had fallen into disrepair. The granite cladding on the walls stands out both inside and on the exterior structure; the church also has two side chapels with altarpieces.
The Musée Duguesclin was established on the village’s main square. It is dedicated to the figure of du Guesclin and presents him and his era through objects, models, and pictures. In L'Habitarelle, the Monument commémoratif de Duguesclin has been listed as a historic monument since 25 October 1911.
The Tour des Anglais is part of the historic townscape. Built of granite in a medium-bond masonry pattern, it retains three storeys and is the surviving remnant of a castle that belonged to the Barony of Randon. The Monument de Duguesclin comprises a mausoleum open on all four sides, with a recumbent tomb effigy.
The Fontaine du Guesclin is also connected with the history surrounding Bertrand du Guesclin: according to tradition, he died after drinking the water from the spring.
