Culture and History
The original Romanesque Sainte-Eulalie church in Montblanc dates from the 11th century. The bell tower of the Église Sainte Eulalie was built in the 13th and 14th centuries by the Knights Hospitaller. The Église Sainte Eulalie was classified as a historic monument in 1987.
The Maison Consulaire in Montblanc was built in 1664 by the consuls Gasc and Dijous. Until the Revolution, it was the centre of communal life in Montblanc; in summer, it houses the tourist office.
For centuries, the inhabitants of Montblanc baked their bread at the Four Banal in exchange for a levy paid to the feudal lord. Today, the restored Four Banal displays the oven's original form and the last baking trough used.
