Culture and History

The ruins of Abbaye de Valsauve (1217–1375) are located near Verfeuil. The area around Verfeuil is also home to the Abbatiale de Goudargues monastery, the historic site of Chartreuse de Valbonne, and the historic site of Abbaye de Valsauve.

The older part of the buildings at Valsauve dates from the 12th and 14th centuries and includes a chapel as well as the nuns’ former occasional accommodation; the nuns once owned Valsauve. Valsauve was formerly a monastery. After the nuns were expelled from there in the 16th century, they subsequently lived in Bagnols and returned to Valsauve only rarely.

Geographical Location

The peaks of Serre de fons, Serre Noir, and Serre de Vambelle, as well as Mont Bouquet mountain, are located near Verfeuil.
