Culture and history

Saint-Paul-la-Coste has a Romanesque church dating from the 12th century, whose restoration received a “Rubans du patrimoine 2020” award. The Temple of Saint-Paul-la-Coste is located in the heart of the village; it was built around 1565. The Chapelle de Mandajors is associated with the Wars of Religion at the end of the reign of Louis XIV.

The former Chambon silk mill, later known as Boudon, in Le Martinet was built in 1836 on the site of a former martinet; only the water-bearing aqueduct and the ruins of the building remain of the former Chambon-Boudon silk mill.

Getting around

Several paths and forest tracks, some paved with calades, cross Saint-Paul-la-Coste and provide access to panoramas, vallats, mas and hamlets. The long-distance hiking trail GR®70 was marked out in 1993 by the Fédération Française de Randonnée Pédestre and classified as GR®70; it crosses the southern part of the municipality of Saint-Paul-la-Coste. Saint-Paul-la-Coste can be explored on foot, on horseback, by bicycle or with a donkey.

Nature

Le Martinet is designated as an Espace Naturel Sensible in Saint-Paul-la-Coste. At the Espace Naturel Sensible du Martinet, a 2- to 3-km bilingual Occitan-French walk was offered, presenting the animals, flora and built heritage.

Festivals

Festive events in Saint-Paul-la-Coste include a chestnut fair.
