Saint-Maximin: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Saint-Maximin is home to the Aqueduc de Nîmes archaeological site in the Gard department of the Occitanie region. The Aqueduc de Nîmes is Gallo-Roman. At the same time, Saint-Maximin overlooks the Alzon Valley.

Culture

At its northwestern corner, the château in Saint-Maximin incorporates part of Saint-Maximin’s medieval fortifications. It features construction phases from the Middle Ages and the 18th century and is partially listed as a Monument historique; the corresponding listing was made by decree on 28 January 1997.

The Church of Saint-Blaise dates from the Romanesque period of the 11th century and was partially rebuilt and reoriented in 1834. It is located in the heart of Saint-Maximin and adjoins the original fortress, which later became the château. It also has an organ dating from Mozart’s era, which was restored in 1995.

Culinary delights

At the Caveau de St-Maximin run by Les Collines du Bourdic, wines bearing the designations AOP Duché d’Uzès, IGP Coteaux du Pont du Gard, IGP Cévennes and IGP Pays d’OC are presented. Wine tastings are also offered there.

The Domaine de l’Aqueduc offers workshops on wine and regional produce. The Domaine de l’Aqueduc includes a themed trail and a picnic area.
