Remoulins: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Remoulins, the “Entre Gardon et Vigières” trail connects the old town with the banks of the Gardon. It leads through lanes, gardens and shady paths and is equipped with yellow markings and signposts. Hiking trails also run through the garrigue and along the banks of the Gardon.

Culture

Several notable buildings form part of the town’s history. The organ of Remoulins is considered one of the few surviving examples of Moitessier organ building; its instrumental section is protected as an object of historic interest. Notre-Dame de Bethléem has a comb bell tower and is listed in the inventory of historic monuments. The former 12th-century church successively served as the town hall, magistrates’ court, prison and school in the 19th century.

The Remoulins donjon is a tower typical of the 12th century, with rusticated masonry, and is also the only surviving evidence of the former castle of the Lords of Uzès. The Tour des Escaravats also dates from the 12th century; “Escaravats” means “beetles” in Provençal. The former fortified Porte de Remoulins is six metres high.

Remains of the old suspension bridge have survived. It is one of France’s earliest suspension bridge structures and was built by the brothers Marc and Camille Seguin. The bridge was completed in May 1830 and dismantled in 1937; its remains are listed as historic monuments. The site offers a panorama of the Gardon from both banks.

Nature

The Baignade à Remoulins bathing area is open from 1 April to 30 September and can be accessed free of charge. It is located near the town centre and offers a view of the Pont Neuf.

The circular “Autour du Pont du Gard” hike begins at the Place de la Madone car park in Remoulins. It is 8.7 kilometres long, has an elevation gain of 234 metres and takes three hours. The route leads to remains of the Roman aqueduct and to a panorama of the Pont du Gard.

Events

The Fête votive of Remoulins takes place on the third weekend of July. It includes a funfair, a communal meal with local restaurateurs, as well as an encierro, bandido and abrivado in the town’s streets. Several Course Camarguaise dates are also scheduled in Remoulins for 2026, including events on 7, 19 and 21 July.

The summer food-truck evenings in Remoulins take place every Tuesday evening from mid-June to the end of August on the square in front of the town hall. On 16 June 2026, a food-truck evening took place there from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. From mid-July to mid-August, the night markets bring local producers and creative artisans together on Monday evenings.
