Culture
Villesèque is the most important hamlet in the municipality of Saint-Jean-de-Crieulon and has been mentioned in historical texts as Villa Sicca since 1292. The Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Villesèque can be seen at the Mas de l’église, the former Priory of Saint-Jean. The site is privately owned, so visitors should contact the owner.
The Crieulon is a small tributary of the Vidourle on its eastern bank. In the 19th century, it powered a grain mill and an oil mill in the municipality of Saint-Jean-de-Crieulon.

By appointment from Monday to Saturday, Maison Blanc Senthille in Saint-Jean-de-Crieulon offers a vineyard walk with the winemaker, a cellar tour and a guided tasting of organic wines from the AOP Duché d’Uzès and IGP Cévennes. The estate also tends old vines on slopes according to ecological principles.
At Château de Comiac, the wines are produced and bottled on site using traditional expertise. The owners offer a tasting of their wines, aged on the estate, in their own cellar. Château de Comiac is a family-run organic winery with 10 hectares of vineyards in the Haut-Gard at the foot of the Cévennes; it produces wines from the AOP Duché d’Uzès and IGP Cévennes.
Domaine de l’Ancien Prieuré now covers 28 hectares of vineyards; its wines belong to the IGP Cévennes and AOP Duché d’Uzès designations of origin. The estate produces biodynamic wines in the heart of the Cévennes. One cuvée from Domaine de l’Ancien Prieuré is aged in an amphora in the setting of a 12th-century Romanesque church.
