Culture and history
The Pont du Saint-Esprit was built between 1265 and 1309 by the Brotherhood of the Œuvre du Saint-Esprit and connected Languedoc with Provence. The bridge is 919 metres long and originally consisted of 26 arches.
The historic architecture includes the Collégiale, also known as the Chapelle du Saint-Esprit. It was built between 1310 and 1326 by the Brotherhood of the Œuvre du Saint-Esprit, following approval by Philippe le Bel, to accommodate the sick, poor and abandoned children. Its southern portal in the late Gothic Flamboyant Gothic style was classified as a historic monument in 1910.
The Musée d'Art Sacré du Gard is located in the Maison des Chevaliers, a medieval residence with origins dating back to the 12th century, which has been fully protected as a historic monument since 1992. The museum has held the designation “Musée de France” since 17 September 2003.
The Maison du Roi was the seat of the rectors of the Œuvre du Pont and received twelve kings of France. It has been listed as a historic monument since 4 February 1946.
The portal of the former hospital chapel and the northern façade of the Ancienne citadelle were classified as historic monuments by decree of 19 November 1910. The Ancienne citadelle comprises remains of hospital buildings from the 14th and 15th centuries, as well as fortifications probably built by Vauban.

Cycling
The Boucle cyclodécouverte Spiripontaine is an 18-kilometre, two-hour, gently hilly cycling route for families. It offers views of the Rhône Valley and Mont Ventoux.
Pont-Saint-Esprit is directly connected to the Via Rhôna from its medieval bridge.
