In Villeneuve-Minervois, the Maison de la Truffe d’Occitanie is dedicated to truffles in a particularly comprehensive way: The 300 m² museum includes themed rooms covering the history, environment, culture, harvesting, marketing and gastronomy of truffles. The self-guided visit includes audio guides, a film about truffle hunting with a dog or pig, and a treasure hunt for children aged 7 to 12. In February, the Nuit de la Truffe takes place in Villeneuve-Minervois on the evening of the last truffle market. A menu prepared entirely with truffles is served, and the brotherhood Los Trufaires de Vilanova de Menerbes welcomes new members.

Culture

The Dolmen de la Jagantière, or Palet de Roland, dates from the Late Neolithic and the Chalcolithic. It has been protected as a historic monument since the 1889 list.

The rural chapel of Saint-Mamès is located in the vicinity of Villeneuve-Minervois. It is the destination of a pilgrimage on 17 August; a mass is celebrated there at 10:30 a.m.

Things to do

The Sentier de la Truffe is a moderately difficult, 17-kilometre hiking route with a duration of around eight hours. The starting point is in Villeneuve-Minervois, and the return route leads back towards the village.

Another way to explore the area is the Circuit de découverte du village: The quiz trail, which takes around 1.5 hours, leads through the streets of Villeneuve-Minervois and is started via a QR code mounted outside the town hall.
