History

Saint-Louis-et-Parahou is divided into three settlements, each with its own history: Saint-Louis, Parahou-Grand and Parahou-Petit. The bell tower of Saint-Louis-et-Parahou is a seigneurial tower dating from the end of the 12th century. It was raised by one storey to accommodate the bells.

The pass above Parahou historically connected Roussillon with the Haute Vallée de l'Aude. The Col de Saint-Louis was a new mountain classification on the route of the 2021 Tour de France to Quillan. Beyond the pass above Parahou is the winding road La Redoute.
