Culture
Cailhavel is laid out in a circle around its church. Saint Martin's Church was built in the 13th century; its preserved portal has a distinctly Gothic, or pointed-arch, character. The historic objects in Saint Martin's Church that were classified in 1964 include furnishings dating from the 18th century. Bertrand Marty was born in Cailhavel and is regarded as the last Cathar bishop; he died at the stake in Montségur on 16 March 1244.
