Culture and history

The Église Saint-Ouen was built between the 12th and 19th centuries and has been listed as a historic monument since 16 June 1926. The Pigeonnier, also known as the Colombier, was built in the second half of the 17th century and could accommodate 1,800 pairs of pigeons.

The Tour des Bourseaux, also known as the Tour d’Enceinte, is the only remaining tower of the enclosure that surrounded the abbey. Le Ponceau is a small covered bridge connected to the former enclosure of Maubuisson Abbey.

La Grange aux dîmes is an annex of the abbey and is notable for its roof structure. Following its conversion at the end of the 20th century, it is now mainly used for events.

The reception building of Épluches station retains the original appearance of its 1846 construction. Épluches station is a preserved example of 19th-century railway architecture implemented by the Compagnie des chemins de fer du Nord.

Parks and water

The Parc de l’Abbaye de Maubuisson features extensive lawns and old plane trees that have been recognised as “arbres remarquables de France”. The park also combines remarkable ecological diversity with vegetation, mineral elements and an old hydraulic network.

The Étangs de Maubuisson comprise two ponds of 4,500 m² each, which are used for fishing and walking. The Parc de la mairie covers 3.8 hectares and contains several hundred-year-old trees, including a plane tree and a horse chestnut tree classified as remarkable trees. The Berges d’Oise extend for 6 km.

Paths and activities

The Coulée verte is considered a protected natural area and is now a continuous, 5 km-long footpath from the Quai du Halage to the Bassin Blanche de Castille. The Bassin Blanche de Castille offers a promenade that connects to the Coulée verte at Liesse.

The Jardin des Possibles in Maubuisson offers gardening workshops and activities to discover the local flora and fauna. The Parc Le Nôtre is now designed for walks and children’s games. The Golf urbain is a compact 9-hole course in an 8-hectare wooded park rich in flowers.

Getting there

Saint-Ouen l’Aumône Centre station is served by Transilien SNCF Line H and RER Line C. The Pontoise–Creil section of Line H stops at Épluches.
