Culture

The Château de La Roche-Guyon's donjon is a cylindrical tower with a diameter of 12.20 metres and a height of 35 metres. Since 1996, visitors have been able to climb to the donjon via the troglodytic staircase and admire the panorama from its summit. The Sentier des peintres leads to places that have inspired great painters from the 17th century to the present day.

Throughout the season, the Château de La Roche-Guyon offers family-friendly guided tours entitled “À la découverte du Château”. The Jardin anglais is accessible as part of guided tours and consists of four winding promenades. During the season, the Potager-fruitier hosts guided tours, meetings and educational workshops for school groups and families. The Potager-fruitier covers 3.8 hectares and contains 675 fruit trees.

Nature

Marked highland paths along the cliff lead through slopes, fields and woodland to varied routes with a viewpoint over the Seine Valley. The GR2 crosses La Roche-Guyon via the paths on the hills. Route suggestions are available for exploring along the Seine à Vélo.

The municipality of La Roche-Guyon is part of the 268-hectare Réserve naturelle nationale des Coteaux de la Seine, which is known for its significant calcareous grasslands as well as chalk cliffs and chalk pillars along the river. The Espace Nature Seine & Vexin is an interpretation centre in the troglodytic outbuildings of the Château de La Roche-Guyon and presents the natural and landscape heritage of the Seine Valley.

Geographical Location

A free car park with 400 spaces is located near the banks of the Seine and the village centre. The journey is possible via the SNCF railway station at Mantes-la-Jolie and then by bus 95-11.
