Culture and leisure

The Château du Mandinet is considered the oldest monument in the municipality of Lognes and became the Hôtel de Ville in 1990. The seigneurial fief of the Château du Mandinet already existed in the 14th century.

The Église Saint-Martin in Lognes is a neo-Gothic church built between 1898 and 1903. It was restored by the city of Lognes between 1994 and 2000. Its interior architecture was altered by polychrome-painted walls and vaults that respond to the stained-glass windows.

For the year 1999, Ateliers Duchemin in Paris and Christophe Cuzin are listed in connection with the Église Saint-Martin in Lognes.

The Aérodrome de Lognes-Emerainville covers 87 hectares and has a 700-metre-long paved runway and a 1,100-metre-long grass runway. The Aéroclub Planeair is based there in Lognes. The Aéroclub Les Aiglons offers 30-minute introductory flights with a flight instructor; no prior knowledge is required.

The Médiathèque du Segrais has 45,000 documents, work areas, a small event hall and a seed library. It offers cultural events throughout the year. The Tiers-lieu Simone Signoret offers a wide range of activities and services in the spirit of diversity, creativity and solidarity.

Nature

Lognes has five artificial bodies of water: the Étangs des Pêcheurs, du Maubuée, du Segrais, du Grand Bassin and des Ibis; they were created during the construction of the new town. The bodies of water in Lognes collect surface runoff and rainwater and serve as regulation basins.

The Parc du Mandinet is a contemporary park designed by Gilles Vexlard in 1981 and laid out around two bodies of water. It includes the Étang des Ibis and extends along the southern shore of the Étang de Maubuée.

The Bois de Lognes is a 20-hectare wooded area on the edge of the historic centre of Lognes, with a diverse range of flora and fauna. It has a fitness trail and a botanical educational trail.

The Parc du Segrais includes an apiary, two orchards – including an apple-variety conservation orchard – and a permaculture garden.
