Fericy: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Église Sainte-Osmanne in Féricy is a church built in the 12th century and was classified as a Monument historique in 1930. Its stained-glass windows were created between 1532 and 1540 in a Parisian workshop; they depict episodes from the New Testament as well as hagiographic scenes featuring the church’s patron saints. The church is visible from the outside but is normally closed to the public. Visits are possible by prior appointment; on the second Saturday of each month, it opens before the service.

Culture

The Source Sainte-Osmanne is located in the courtyard of the Domaine de la Salle. It was dedicated to Saint Osmanne in the 16th century and subsequently became a pilgrimage destination. The present manor house of the Domaine de la Salle was built in 1838 in the neoclassical style, with four levels. The Pont de Vallerand in Féricy was built in 1844. The Pont de la Girafe owes its name to the excitement caused in 1827 by the arrival of the first giraffe to reach France, which was presented to Charles X. The Lavoir de la Fontaine Ory dates from the 19th century and was recently restored.

Nature

The Domaine de la Salle includes a 9-hectare park open to the public. The Domaine de la Salle is also home to a sycamore tree classified as a notable tree of the Seine-et-Marne département. In the mare aux merisiers in the Bois de Saint Denis, in the Barbeau state forest, 23 bald cypresses form a canopy.

Getting Around

Three footpaths currently cross the municipality of Féricy. The Balade à Féricy is a 5.4 km-long, approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes’ walk through Féricy that is not signposted.

Les Ruchers des Cours-Doux sells organic honey harvested in the region directly from the farm.
