Égligny: Holiday Apartments and Houses
Égligny combines a complex abbey history with historic sites and a rural landscape. The grounds of Notre-Dame-de-Preuilly Abbey cover 14 hectares and preserve significant remains from the 12th century, including the abbey church, choir, nave, transept, and chapter house.
Culture and History
In 1118, Thibaut, Count of Champagne, transferred the land of Preuilly to the Cistercians. Under the abbacy of Étienne Harding, Abbot Arthaud and twelve monks founded Notre-Dame de Preuilly, the fifth daughter house of Cîteaux. The history of the area also includes the Église Saint-Martin-Saint-Félicien in Égligny, which was listed as a historic monument by decree on 28 May 1926. The statue Notre-Dame du chêne was restored in 2012, dated to the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries, and listed as a protected historic movable object.
Preuilly Abbey is privately owned and can only be visited during the Journées du Patrimoine. The annual Notre-Dame du Chêne pilgrimage runs between the hamlet of Le Chêne and the ruins of Preuilly Abbey. The ruins of Abbaye de Preuilly are located in the immediate vicinity of Égligny. The historic site Bernardines de Bray-sur-Seine (Priory) is also located nearby. In the wider regional surroundings of Égligny are the historic site Abbaye de la Cour-Notre-Dame as well as the historic site Pincevent.

The Vieille Seine runs through the municipal area of Égligny. The Preuilly circular trail is a historic route through religious and secular buildings in a rural landscape of hills and valleys shaped by small tributaries on the right bank of the Seine. The circular trail offers a view of the former Preuilly Abbey and then follows the abbey's enclosing wall.
