Culture and History

The building history of the Château de La Norville dates back to the Middle Ages. At that time, it was a manor house that was completely destroyed during the Hundred Years’ War against the English. During the work carried out from 1881 to 1884, a classroom and two rooms for accommodating a teacher were rented to Célestine de Varreux, a novelist and poet from La Norville.

The Eglise Saint-Denis de La Norville was built in the 12th century and rebuilt in the 15th century after the Hundred Years’ War. It is open daily and freely accessible.

The Salle Pablo Picasso in La Norville is one of the venues included in the joint cultural programme for 2026–2027.

Nature

The Coulée verte is a small green space that connects the town hall with the swimming pool and shops and is lined with murals on both sides. A cycle-accessible path runs through the entire green space; it is open daily all year round.

In the Bois de la Garenne, wood lying in the coppice woods and away from the paths is deliberately left on the ground to preserve biodiversity.

La Pâture is an extensive green area stretching from the château to the Bois de la Garenne, offering a chance to enjoy nature on warm days.
