Culture and Townscape

The Église Saint-Pierre in Menotey has been documented since 1354. Its architecture combines Gothic construction principles with Renaissance and Classicist ornaments.

The church was partially rebuilt in the 16th century. The choir was completed in 1507; the bell tower with portal bears the date 1604. A two-sided cross from the late 15th century is also located by the Église Saint-Pierre; it was probably moved there from the former cemetery around the church.

The Fontaine des Bourguerins was renovated in 1992. North of the town centre, at the entrance to Rue de la Bourgoisotte, is the Fontaine de la Bourgoisotte ensemble, listed in the inventory of historic monuments, with a fountain, a washhouse and a wayside cross from the 12th century.

Menotey has numerous old winegrowers’ houses. As part of the 2025 European Heritage Days, the Dorfsentier Baco in Menotey featured stops at fountains, squares, houses and monuments in the village.

Nature

The “Massif de la Serre” Natura 2000 site also partially encompasses the centre of Menotey.

In the wider regional surroundings of Menotey, the Grand Dole hiking trail network runs through the Massif de la Serre and provides access to caves, rocks, springs, quarries, ponds and nature reserves.

Routes

The Le Moulin des Vaux circular trail runs along the Route de Menotey towards Croix Boyon. It starts at a designated car park on the Départementale 79 between Gredisans and Menotey.

The Tour du Pays de Dole route passes through Menotey. The La Croix Boyon circular trail also passes through the village, as does the Le Loup Garou circular trail.
