Nature
The Bassins du Doubs feature cliffs more than 40 metres high that descend into calm, black and deep waters on which boats operate. From Lac de Chaillexon, the Doubs forms a natural border between France and Switzerland for around 40 kilometres.
The Saut du Doubs waterfall was formed after a rockfall created an obstruction in the course of the river. It is designated as a Grand Site National. Following the construction of a French-Swiss footbridge, the viewpoints and paths at Saut du Doubs were completely renovated.
Activities
In Villers-le-Lac, there are signposted paths for hiking, cycling and horse riding. Canoeing, water skiing and boat trips through the Doubs gorges are possible along the banks of the Doubs. Villers-le-Lac also has 80 kilometres of groomed cross-country ski trails. Dog-sled rides take you through snow-covered expanses.
Those who choose Villers-le-Lac as a travel destination may want to rent a holiday apartment there.
Culture
The Musée de la Montre in L'Ébauche presents a selection of the collections of the former museums of Villers-le-Lac and Morteau. The museum has a relaxation area with books and films about local watchmaking companies and personalities.
