Palasca is a medieval village whose history dates back to the end of the 11th century. It was built during the time of the Marquises of Massa, who had settled in San Colombanu.

Culture

The protected architectural heritage includes the complex consisting of the parish church of Notre-Dame-de-l’Annonciation (Santa-Maria-Assunta) in Palasca, its bell tower, the adjacent covered passageway, the former town hall and the Sainte-Croix (Santa-Croce) chapel. It has been protected as a historic monument by listing orders dated 6 April 2016 and 22 June 2017.

The Cappella di l'Annunziata was built in March 1713. A statue of the Virgin Mary can be seen above its entrance. The Cappella di San Bastianu was built in 1670; inside, there is a painting by Luigi Brunetti depicting Saint Lucy and Saint Sebastian at the feet of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows.

Some of Palasca’s formerly fortified houses, known as “e case torre”, still have machicolations today.
