Guitera-les-Bains: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
South of Guitera-les-Bains lies the Bains de Guitera thermal spring, about 2 km south of the village on the D83 between Santa Maria-Siché and Zicavo, on the right bank of the Taravo. It supplies sulphurous water containing sodium, with a documented temperature of 44 °C.
Nature
The former Bains de Guitera thermal bathing facility should not be confused with the spring. It is in a dilapidated condition and is no longer in operation.
Those planning a stay in Guitera-les-Bains may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
Culture and history
The Casteddu di Bozzi, a castle, stands on the hills west of Guitera-les-Bains. From the 14th to the 15th century, it played a role in Corsica's military history.
The Chemin du Casteddu di Bozzi is a circular trail with a duration of 1 hour and 30 minutes.
The ruins of the San Ghjuvani parish church lie on the plain between the baths and the village. The parish church was abandoned at the beginning of the early modern period; the seat of the parish was moved to Zìcavu.
East of Guitera-les-Bains stands a Romanesque chapel, now in ruins, dedicated to Saint Peter. The Saint Pierre Chapel was later converted into a tomb.
The parish church also preserves the dedication San Petru of a medieval chapel below the village.
Local offerings
At the exit of Guitera-les-Bains is Chez Paul Antoine, a breeding operation and producer of cured meats and cheese. The regional offerings include cooked meat products, jam, terrines and veal.
