Culture and History

The façades and roofs of Château de Doumely were classified as a historic monument by decree of 21 December 1984; the façades and roofs of the outbuildings were listed on the same day. The documented construction phases of Château de Doumely range from the 15th and 17th centuries, through the first quarter of the 18th century, to the 19th century. The château is characterised by a tapering roof and alternating masonry.

The Church of Saint-Rémi de Doumely was built in 1682 from stones from Grigny Abbey; there is a sundial on its apse wall. The Church of Saint-Nicolas de Bégny was built in the 17th century from stones from Grigny Abbey.

Hiking

The Escapades sur les Crêtes No. 46 – Le château de Doumely hike is easy, 8.2 kilometres long, and takes about two hours. It starts at 2 Vierge de Doumely in Doumely-Bégny.

The Abbaye de Signy, a historic site, is located in the vicinity of Doumely-Bégny. The Église Saint-Nicolas, a church, is also located nearby. In the wider surrounding region are the Abbaye de la Val-Roi, a historic site, and the ruins of the Abbaye de Bonnefontaine.
