Dozens of marked hiking trails begin in Hargnies. They range from a two-hour family outing to a full-day hike. The long-distance hiking trail Grande Traversée des Ardennes (GTA) also passes through Hargnies.

Culture and History
For safety reasons, the Église Saint-Lambert is not permanently open to the public, but it can be visited upon request. A free, approximately one-hour guided tour by a member of the Association du Patrimoine d’Hargnies is possible after contacting the municipal secretariat and making a reservation 24 to 48 hours in advance. The church is built entirely from rubble stone made of Haybes arkose and has a Latin-cross floor plan. During the war between Charles V and François I, its massive tower was Hargnies’s only defense; on June 15, 1558, the governor of Charlemont was ordered to station a small garrison there. During the war between France and Spain in 1635, the Église Saint-Lambert once again served as a fortress and was set on fire in 1640 by French troops involved in the siege of Charlemont.
The Mémorial du « Maquis Prisme » commemorates the resistance fighters who fell in the Hargnies forests in 1944.
The chapel of Hargnies was built by the village residents. It is dedicated to Saint Roch, the patron saint and protector of plague victims, and can only be viewed from the outside.
Cuisine
Hargnies’s cured meats are known throughout the valley. They include, in particular, Boudin blanc, Burute, and air-dried ham.

Hargnies can be reached from Fumay via the D989, the « Route Forestière ». From Givet, take the D8051 and then the D13.
