Paths and connections

Culture

The church of Saint-Ay has a rectangular layout and is designed in the Romanesque style. Three naves separated by arcades divide the building. In the central nave, the church contains a Merovingian sanctuary with six pillars.

The Rabelais Fountain lies on the banks of the Loire below the Château de la Grand’Cour. It was classified as a historic site in 1933. The fountain is associated with the tradition that François Rabelais meditated there and wrote Tiers livre de Pantagruel between 1543 and 1545.
