Culture and History
The Church of Saint Martin and the adjoining priory were initially affiliated with Marmoutier Abbey near Tours. The new Church of Saint Martin was consecrated on 24 June 1860. In 1809, five water-powered grain mills were counted along the Cisse near Chouzy.
The remains of the former La Guiche Abbey include part of the cloister and the cellar building. The chapel of the former abbey contains 14th-century tombs for Jean and Guy de Châtillon. The remains of the former La Guiche Abbey, including its 14th-century tombs, were listed as historic monuments by decree of 13 February 1926.
The façade of the Manoir de Laleu is flanked by two round corner towers with loopholes. The Manoir de Laleu and its chapel were listed as historic monuments by decree of 23 January 1937.
Routes and Activities
Loop 21B in the Val de Cisse is a shorter cultural route close to the Loire. It follows the Cisse and includes Chouzy-sur-Cisse. Circuit 1 runs between the forest and the banks of the Cisse and is 10 km long.
The Sentier Pieds Nus trail by Loisirs Loire Valley is approximately 1 km long and includes various surfaces, balance areas and playful challenges. Loisirs Loire Valley also offers archery on a nature course in the forest.
